Parents Defending Schools and Libraries believes strongly in the importance of inclusive and representative collections in school libraries. To help schools purchase inclusive books, we provide direct grants of $250 - $500 to school libraries to purchase these titles. Grants are awarded as donor funds permit and based on the applying library's needs and plans for expanding representation and inclusion in their collections.
Grant applications must be submitted by current library staff of a public school in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. Awarded funds will be provided proactively rather than as reimbursement after purchases are made. To apply for a grant, Please provide your school name, your position and the grant amount you are requesting. Tell us what areas of diversity and inclusion the funds will be used to address. Please also describe your student community and how a grant will enable you to better serve them.
